Sago Pudding with Gula Melaka and Coconut 椰糖西米露

Sago with gula melaka and coconut a simple yet tasty dessert. However, it can hardly be found in Singapore now. 


1.  1 packet of sago
2.  1 packet of gula Melaka (palm sugar)
3.  3 to 4 leaves of pandan
4.  1 small carton of coconut milk
5.  pinch of salt

1.  Boil sago in hot water until transparent.  Rinse in cold water to wash away excess starch. 

2.  Scoop sago into mould and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour. 

3.  Boil gula melaka with 1/2 cup of water and pandan leaves. Stir continuously until sugar dissolves. Remove pandan leaves.

4.  Boil coconut milk with a pinch of salt.

5.  Serve with chilled sago.  Each person can add the amount of gula melaka and coconut milk according to personally preference.
