Baked Chicken Katsu with Sauce

Chicken Katsu is a common Japanese dish and is easy to make.  This is healthier version as the katsu is baked instead of deep fried.  The sauce for chicken katsu is similar to tonkatsu sauce.  The sweet and sour taste goes very well with chicken katsu.

Ingredients (serves 2)

1. 2 Chicken Breast or thigh
2. 1/2 cup flour
3. 2 eggs
4. 1 packet of panko
5. Salt and pepper


1. 1 cup ketchup
2. 1/4 soy sauce
3. 2 Tbsp vinegar / apple cider
4. 1/2 tsp garlic powder
5. 1/2 tsp ground ginger
6. 1/2 tsp mustard


1.  Sprinkle salt and pepper to chicken.

2.  Fry panko with some olive oil until golden brown over low heat.

3.  Coat chicken with flour.  Remove excess flour.

4.  Dip chicken in egg bath.

5.  Coat chicken with panko.

6.  Pre-heat oven (180 degree). Bake chicken for 20 mins.

1.  Combine all ingredients and mix well.
